The Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center (MEDVAMC) held a special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony officially opening its new VA Outpatient Clinic in Katy on April 22, 2013 at its new location.

The new VA Outpatient Clinic, a nearly 30,000 square-foot facility, is located inside the Mann Eye Institute building at 750 Westgreen Blvd., Katy, Texas 77450. The space is brand new and the clinic will be staffed by highly qualified and experienced VA physicians, nurses, technicians, and administrative staff.

“Opening the Katy VA Outpatient Clinic brings medical care closer to where our Veterans live and greatly expands VA health care access west of Houston,” said Adam C. Walmus, M.H.A., M.A., F.A.C.H.E., MEDVAMC director.

The clinic, open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., provides  primary care, mental healthcare, women’s specialty care, laboratory, X-ray, optometry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, ENT, and audiology. Other specialty services may be offered at this clinic by specialists from Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center via telemedicine or through your primary care provider. Emergency medication needs will be met on a local contract basis.

“An outpatient clinic in Katy is great, great news for Veterans living in Fort Bend County,” said Walmus. “Veterans here are really looking forward to having easy access to VA health care. This will dramatically cut the drive times Veterans face going to see a primary care provider in Houston.”

Veterans interested in transferring their care to the new Katy VA Outpatient Clinic should speak with their current VA primary health care provider. This will ensure smooth transition of prescriptions and other medical information.

The new clinic opened for business on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. The main telephone number for the new clinic is 281-578-4600.
