Thank you for your inquiry in becoming a volunteer at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC). Volunteers at VA Medical Centers across the country help our nations’ Veterans know they are not forgotten. If you are interested in volunteering please see our program requirements and submit the volunteer questionnaire. Program Requirements

BULLET Minimum 100 hours and 6 months
BULLET Must complete mandatory orientation
BULLET Must have volunteer badge to begin volunteering

Next Steps Once Questionnaire has been Approved

Internships/Externships

BULLETThe Department of Voluntary Service does not oversee or reregister internships/externships or any unpaid individuals receiving academic credit. These opportunities may be overseen by the Department of Education or Department Human Resources.
BULLETThe Department of Voluntary Service DOES NOT offer Shadowing/Observing Medical Physicians, these opportunities may be overseen by Chief of Staff Office or WOC (work without compensation) Human Resources.
BULLETResearch and education corporation WOC employees are not to be considered as VAVS volunteers. Their activities must be coordinated through the Office of Academic Affiliations.
