VA Psychology Intern Recipient of 2007 APPIC Student Research Award
HOUSTON - Deleene Menefee, a psychology intern in the Mental Health Care Line at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC), is the recipient of the 2007 APPIC award for student research relevant to supervision and training in professional psychology.
The Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) is a national organization which has as a primary mission the achievement and maintenance of high quality training in professional psychology. The APPIC is made up of a board of directors elected by the membership to represent students, their advisors, and training directors in pre-doctoral and postdoctoral training programs around the country.
Menefee's dissertation research was selected in this national competition as the best submission for this honor. Upon completion of her internship in August 2007, Dr. Menefee has been selected for a postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Psychology at the MEDVAMC for the 2007/2008 training year within the MEDVAMC Psychology Training Program. She is the seventh winner of this annual APPIC award.
