HOUSTON – The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) has revamped and updated its Web site to make it more user-friendly and easier for veterans to find out about VA health benefits and services.
With the content prioritized and reorganized, the simplified site, www.houston.va.gov, is now also easier to navigate. Updated frequently, it contains comprehensive information about eligibility and enrollment, benefits for returning combat troops, emergency care in non-VA facilities, VA medical and research advances, how to make and change VA appointments, and the Telecare Center, a 24/7 nurse hotline.
"We want to get as much information as possible into the hands of veterans and their family members," said Edgar L. Tucker, MEDVAMC director. “We believe the Internet is an important communication tool for veterans of all ages.”
The Web site also has news about cutting-edge technology and medical equipment available at the MEDVAMC, links to get prescriptions refilled, and valuable telephone numbers, plus information on emergency preparedness, transportation, and outpatient clinics in Beaumont, Conroe, Galveston, Lufkin, and Texas City.
