Houston VA Medical Center Cancels August 5 Morning Appointments Texas City and Galveston VA Clinics to Close Entire Day HOUSTON – In response to the projected path of Tropical Storm Edouard, the Houston VA Medical Center is cancelling outpatient clinic appointments scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, August 5, 2008. Appointments after 12 noon on August 5 will be kept. In addition, the Texas City and Galveston VA Clinics will close the entire day. Patients impacted by the cancellations will be contacted and rescheduled as soon as possible. The VA outpatient clinics in Beaumont, Conroe, and Lufkin, will be open for regular operations on August 5. All VA medical center and outpatient clinic staff should report for their normal tour of duty, using proper precautions for personal safety. Veterans in need of medical advice should call the VA Telecare Center at (713) 794-8985 or toll-free 1-800-639-5137. Registered nurses, pharmacists, and administrative clerks at the VA Telecare Center are ready to answer veteran health care questions 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
