National Disability Employment Awareness Month Event

October 14, 2008

In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, National Industries for the Blind, and the AbilityOne Program have joined forces to host a special event on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the 4th Floor Auditorium.

You are invited to attend this ceremony to hear from employees whose lives have been changed by this program and to pay tribute to VA employees who have helped to create employment opportunities for people who are blind or have other severe disabilities.  A variety of materials produced and provided by AbilityOne agencies that employ people who are blind will be on display. In addition, a light lunch will be provided.

The AbilityOne Program is a federal purchasing program that enables people who are blind or have other severe disabilities to obtain employment while providing products and services to federal customers.

For more information, contact the EEO Office at ext. 7788 or Jamie Classen at jclassen@nib.org.
