December 2, 2008

HOUSTON, TX — The Texas Veterans Commission named Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) Social Worker Linda Avery the Outstanding VA Employee of the Month for October 2008.

Avery has worked at the Conroe VA Outpatient Clinic since its opening in February 2007, helping Veterans focus on their individual strengths and improve their quality of life.

“Caring for Veterans is a great privilege and the staff at the Conroe Clinic is a unique team of caring professionals,” said Avery.

Social workers meet the special needs of each Veteran and their family through comprehensive psychosocial assessments and interventions. The MEDVAMC employs 90 licensed Master’s prepared and professionally trained social workers in various capacities throughout its hospital, outpatient clinics, and Vet Centers.

The Texas Veterans Commission is a state agency serving the needs of Texas Veterans and is an advocate for them, their families and their survivors.
