Houston VA Medical Center Director Edgar L. Tucker
HOUSTON, TX - Houston VA Medical Center (HVAMC) Director Edgar L. Tucker was named the Federal Executive of the Year 2002 for the Houston/Galveston area. The award, recognizing Tucker's outstanding leadership during Tropical Storm Allison and his strong support for the Combined Federal Campaign, was presented on October 16, 2002 during the annual Federal Executive Board luncheon.
Tucker was appointed director of the HVAMC in February 2001. In this capacity, he is charged with management of one of the most complex VA medical centers in the country with over 2,600 employees and an annual budget in excess of $290 million. In addition to caring for more than 60,000 Southeast Texas veterans, the HVAMC also serves as a regional and national referral center for many services including cardiac surgery, neurological disorders, radiation therapy, and spinal cord injury care.
