Program Overview:

The Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center offers a unique experience.  Our institution is affiliated with the Baylor College of Medicine, as well as the following Colleges of Pharmacy: University of Texas at Austin, University of Houston, and Texas Southern University.  Located right in the heart of the Texas Medical Center, residents have the opportunity to interact with a variety of healthcare professionals and trainees.  Our program offers unique elective and teaching opportunities.  Residents will gain experience in the ambulatory care setting as well as the inpatient/acute care setting, and they will work with many members of the pharmacy department throughout their clinical and staffing experiences.  Our pharmacy service is progressive and growing.  We currently have 21 clinical pharmacy specialists and 76 staff pharmacists who provide pharmacy services in a variety of specialty areas.  There is ample opportunity for clinical pharmacists and residents to develop innovative and advanced patient care practices in collaboration with the medical and nursing staff.
