More Parking Coming Soon for Veterans!

Nearly 200 parking spaces near the main hospital will soon open for Veterans!

Tuesday, April 17, 2018

On Tuesday, April 24, 2018, our brand new parking garage will be open for business. The new 4-story garage, located on the edge of campus on the corner of Cambridge and Holcombe, will give us 430 additional parking spaces. Moving employee parking to the new garage will allow us to open up closer parking for our Veterans in Parking Lot R, near the Spinal Cord entrance off Almeda.  Realigning some of our campus parking lots will allow Veterans to park closer to the Medical Center and cut down on congestion in our Valet.

Additionally, we are working towards a plan to contract for more parking from nearby locations; opening up even more parking spaces on campus for Veterans. Also, later this year a Hilton Garden Inn will be constructed on campus as part of an Enhanced Lease Use Agreement. Part of this agreement will give us 200 additional parking spaces in the hotel parking garage.

“Houston VA is committed to addressing the parking challenge on our campus head-on,” said Jeanette Butler, Facility Management Director.  “We are thrilled to be opening the new parking garage and continuing to add additional parking on campus in the future.”

MEDVAMC Police will be out on campus directing Veterans to open parking for the first several weeks after the new garage opens. Look for signs directing Veterans and visitors where to park. For more information about our parking, see the campus map below or call VA Police at 713-794-7106.
