VA2K Walk and Roll
VA2K Walk and Roll
The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center will host a 2K “walk and roll” event Wednesday, May 18, 2016 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Medical Center gazebo near the entrance to the Community Living Center. The VA2K is to encourage employees and Veterans, at all levels of fitness, to join in a fun, short walk. Donations for the homeless Veterans will also be accepted.
“Worksite wellness activities enhance employee engagement and contribute to a more productive and healthy workforce,” said Christopher Sandles, Acting Director of the Medical Center. “Last year, VA’s 2K here at MEDVAMC was extremely successful, and this year we intend to collect even more in-kind donations and involve more participants in support of wellness and homeless Veterans.”
The MEDVAMC event is just one of many 2Ks taking place at other VA facilities across the country.
In conjunction with the event, Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service will inform participants of VA’s willingness to accept gifts and MEDVAMC’s need for in-kind gifts to be used to carry out existing VA programs for homeless Veterans.
However, there is no requirement for a donation in order to participate.
Opening ceremonies for the VA2K will be held in front of the Gazebo near the Community Living Center at the Old Spanish Trail entrance at 10:00 a.m.
In the event of inclement weather, the 2K will be held in the MEDVAMC basement.
