Prosthetic & Sensory Aids Service

The mission of the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) is to provide comprehensive support to optimize health and independence of the Veteran. Our vision is to be the premier source of prosthetic and orthotic services, sensory aids, medical equipment, and support services for Veterans in the most economical and timely manner in accordance with authorizing laws, regulations and policies.

PSAS provides a full range of equipment and services to Veterans. These range from items worn by the Veteran, such as an artificial limb or hearing aid; those that improve accessibility, such as ramps and vehicle modifications; to devices surgically placed in the Veteran, such as hips and pacemakers.

Update on Clothing Allowance as of May 13, 2020:
The PSAS walk-In service has been suspended due to the COVID–19 pandemic. The 2020 Clothing Allowance is due in the PSAS office by Friday, July 31. Veterans can submit their application by either of the options below:

Prosthetics is available by phone at 713-791-1414, extension 22563 or 22559, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Please keep in mind all applications are reviewed between August-September and payment is issued by Veterans Benefit Administration (VBA) after October 1. If a Veteran receives an approval decision letter and does not receive payment by December 1, they should contact Prosthetics after December 1 for assistance.

To best serve the Veteran population that uses prosthetic appliances, sensory aids, medical equipment and medical supplies we have an interdisciplinary team that includes:

     • Orthotists
     • Certified Orthotic Fitters
     • Wheelchair Repairer
     • Inventory Management Specialist
