Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center - Houston, Texas
What is Tele-EP?
Telemedicine is the ability to provide interactive health care using modern video technology. It allows patients to visit with their health care providers and receive immediate care. For many Veterans, telemedicine saves the patient time and aggravation driving into Houston from outlying areas.
Electrophysiology (EP) is a branch of cardiology that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders.
The Tele-EP program allows Veterans to have a virtual visit with a Cardiac Electrophysiology Physician from CBOC. This allows Veterans to connect with the physician, regardless of their distance or social conditions.
The goals of the Tele-EP program are:
- Stay connected to Veterans
- Provide Veterans with the highest quality medical care
- Continue to develop initiatives to improve education and medical care to Veterans
Who Can Use the Tele-EP Program?
All Veterans with cardiac arrhythmia, including those with cardiac devices, who live in rural areas can use the Tele-EP Program at one of our Outpatient Clinics to visit with an Electrophysiologist. If you are interested in using the Tele-EP Program, ask your Primary Care Physician for a visit.
